Check Up And Mowing – 8/02/2024

I received a notice from the city of Alton that my lovely neighbors complained about the height of the grass at our construction site. Seriously its under construction. Never mind that the land was vacant for many years before with 6 foot tall grass. I met the city inspector at the site a few days ago. I explained that I had been busy at the hospital with my Father In Law that just died. I wanted to discuss with the inspector about the land and what my plans were. We came to an agreement and I said I would come out and mow it before then end of the weekend. Here I am! You’ll also note from the photo below that I happened to grab our boat while I was out there.

The grass has been mowed and trimmed and is ready for inspection to please the city and my fancy neighbors…

While I was there, I looked around and found that the workers had made updates to the foundation. There are boards showing they are getting ready to pour the basement floor.

I also noticed a crack in our Short Wall just above where a pipe is. I sent the builder photos and they didn’t seem concerned. You can see it in the photo below. Seems a shame we have cracks in the concrete this soon.

I’ve yet to decide if the construction workers are being clever or lazy with their trash.

Last thing of note is that the power company appears to have come in and cleared the ground under the right of way under their lines.

Its been a couple of months since the foundation walls were poured and we’re hoping to see some progress again.
