We decided to paddle a second day in a row. With 3 boats loaded on the trailer and a 10×10 pop up, we were ready to weather the sun and hang out for the morning.
Corvin and I hung out in the shade while Danelle and Maggie paddled in the canoe.
Sonora followed next in Tangelo
And Hannah came in last. But to be fair, she was in the slowest boat!
Eventually, Kelly, Jeff, and Mason came out to join us. Kelly, Mason, and I paddled the canoe around the lake for a bit having a good time. Jeff didn’t want to get in the water, but he did walk around the lake! It was a nice refreshing day to share with friends and family.
Paddling is something that I mostly do and the rest of the family puts up with. We don’t do it enough together even though we have enough boats. Since we got a trailer earlier this year, there is no excuse not to get the family out together and paddle! So here we go!
You can see that we have 3 boats on the trailer, 2 up top and one below. When I say family paddle, I mean substitute Danelle for Maggie and Corvin for Hannah 🙂 You can see 3 of the 4 of us in this shot going up Grand Glaze Creek.
It was great seeing the girls enjoy the freedom of paddling. Maggie and Hannah don’t get much time in a kayak and it took a long time after we finished for their smiles to fade! I”m glad I was able to bring more of our boats our tonight and bring joy to our extended family!
The scariest thing at the office this Halloween was Eric’s desk. He had been out for a week and we wanted to celebrate him coming back with a prank. I had collected lots of sweetener packs from the River des Peres trash bash and brought them into the office. I got Brad and Maggie’s help to lay then on Eric’s desk. Here is the result.
We also had a candy counting thing and I took a photo and put it on the work chat for the remote people.
My employer was kind enough to sponsor part of the DevUp conference this year. Additionally, they sent the whole development staff for professional development.
It didn’t take long for us to get seats and get comfortable for the opening Keynote about the future of technology.
Maggie on my right.
Jeff on my left.
They went all out on the opening this year. With a talk about the future, it just made sense to have a DeLorean there!
Of course, it wasn’t all learning, we did stop to have some fun!
Chad showing that cutout what real muscles look like!
A couple of beers!
This was a HUGE Foosball table, we had at least 12 people playing and still had to move to different positions to cover them all!
Chocolate covered bacon, does it get any better?
I did pretty good at this blackjack table. It may have had something to do with the way the dealer dealt his face down card… You would have looked too if it meant winning 🙂
Overall it was a pretty good conference. I had lots more photos including one of a sleeping co-worker. But some people are over sensitive so some things will just have to be remembered!
Ohh, one last note, if you’re reading my blog and you run a conference center (yeah, like anybody is reading this crap), please put your screens up higher. If you’re sitting in the back, important pieces of a visual just become the back of people’s heads!
