Henry Edward Boeckmann Obituary

Henry Edward Boeckmann, 78, of Kirkwood, Missouri, died on July 7, 2024. Henry was born in St. Louis on March 4, 1946, to Alphonse and Virginia (nee Welch) Boeckmann.

Engineer, inventor, craftsman… From the 1960s to the late 1980s, Henry was a career mechanical engineer at several St. Louis area manufacturing companies. He retired early, but was always an engineer, seeking ways to improve existing systems and creating amazing gadgets for friends and family.

Artist, philanthropist, ‘traveler’… When he wasn’t envisioning how to improve whatever device had caught his interest, Henry might be found creating art through pen and ink drawing or wood carving. He served several terms in the 1980s as the president of the Missouri State Beekeepers Association and enjoyed small-scale honey production. Following his retirement, he regularly volunteered at the Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, the Knights of Columbus, and the Litzsinger Road Ecology Center. Most recently, he enjoyed exploring the globe, using Google Earth to find suspension bridges and shipping centers from around the world.

Henry was a loving husband of nearly 55 years, an exceptional father, and a selfless grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Virginia and Alphonse, his brothers Fred and Gene Boeckmann, and his daughter Janet Boeckmann. Survivors include his wife Carol, his son Brian (Kelly) Boeckmann, daughter Danelle (Hogan) Haake, and his grandchildren Corvin Haake, Sonora Haake, and Mark Boeckmann.
