A First Floor – 10/14/2024

We’ve been waiting anxiously for the framing to ramp back up after finding our sub floor completed. Today I went out to work on the property and found that most of the first floor had been framed!

The garage area in the foreground has not been framed, but is ready for concrete along with the front porch and four season room. Its starting to feel real again. Maybe we’ll have a house!  Here is looking from the front door down the hallway to the back of the house. There will be a double sliding door leading to the four season room and the back of the property!

It won’t look like much to most of you as you have to really know our plans to know what is set to happen. Like any construction project, there are mistakes that we want addressed. We’ve made a list of what we know so far and the builder said they would address it before drywall. I posted the following on Facebook about the construction site.

Does the union teach construction workers how to litter more effectively? Every set of workers coming through our property has done this to date, so it isn’t just one person? There is a trash can and a dumpster on property. I would hate to be invited to any of their houses!
There was more, but I figured this was good enough. Then we have neighborhood dog walkers literally setting their filled dog poop bag next to the dumpster.
Rant suspended till next visit and more mess, people suck. Have some pride in yourself!

I appreciated the feedback from friends and family. It helped me realize that its our property and we don’t want it treated it this way by the people we’re employing. I sent a message to the construction company explaining that I could clean up the mess in 30 minutes, but I didn’t want the workers to think this was acceptable behavior. I was pleasantly surprised when there were photos of the site cleaned up the next day.
I also spent time in the woods cleaning up the honeysuckle. Here is the result of my hours of work with many more to go!
Crossing our fingers that construction continues to be fantastic!
