Water Again – 5/20/2026

I received word from the water company that today was the day. I needed to mow anyway, so I brought the trailer and was welcomed to my house with the site below.

At first, that might feel like a bad sign, but it was for my utility work!!! I parked on a nearby street and had to shuttle all my yard equipment in, but I really didn’t mind!

There is my connection way down there!

I wanted an action shot. However the utility workers asked not to be photographed. They said that if they didn’t have every piece of safety equipment on just so, they could get reprimanded after the fact. This is not to say that I noticed anything untoward, just that photos could be taken out of context and it wasn’t worth their risk. I appreciate that and honored their request. They were quite friendly and prompt. I was doubly glad that I was around for their work. They would not have turned on the water at the main if they could not get into the basement to make sure when they turned on the connection to the main that they didn’t flood my basement. It would not be the first time. I appreciated their caution. I was able to test the water at the yard hydrant and was a very happy camper!

With water out of the way, I noticed settling with the trench to the back. I wasn’t sure if they would come back and fill it in later, so I left it alone.

Finally I had a nice surprise when I was mowing. I got the riding mower about 2 feet away from a fawn and it jumped up and ran a little ways away and sat back down. I shut down the mower and went over. There was a panting scared fawn. I didn’t touch it for fear of my sent causing issues, but did get a nice close photo.

Now it was time to go home. The lawn is freshly mowed and we actually have water!!!
