Danelle and I finally had the chance to get up and visit Corvin together. We’ve been empty nesters since we took Sonora to school back in August, but that doesn’t mean that we have nothing to do. Between our full schedule and Corvin’s its nearly two months since we were able to visit him together.
We ate at a very decorative Mexican restaurant. The food, company, and location were great.
We managed to make it out to a La Crosse football game. It was a bit expensive to get in, so we watched much of it from the fence outside.
Things got interesting at halftime. Corvin’s friend Kayla was out with her dance team entertaining the crowd. We couldn’t get a great photo, but if you have a great imagination or know Kayla, she is the dancer on the far left of the photo below.
Corvin was kind enough to shout her name during a lull in the noise. We knew she heard us when she turned to look. After the dancing when half time was almost over, Corvin had an idea. At half time, much of the crowd leaves the stadium to drink and party in the parking lot. After half time, they don’t check tickets and we waked right into the stadium to have seats for the second half of the game. Corvin and Kayla met up and chatted for a bit. She was a little embarrassed, but that is part of being Corvin’s friend.
After the game, Corvin, Danelle, and I walked over to the student union. Madison, Corvin’s girl friend, was going to come over and meet us to spend some time together. Madison had never played pool before and it was adorable watching the two of them give/receive a lesson.
We played basketball, but it seemed like we were going for lowest/worst score. Just the same it was lots of laughs.
There was an evening at the house with Corvin’s friends laughing and throwing marshmallows into each other’s mouths. Generally just lots of friends spending time together.
Unfortunately, it was going to be a short weekend. When Sunday came around, it was time to head out. The Haake’s are big Chiefs fans and there was a noon game happening. Danelle and I offered that if Corvin and Madison would follow us about an hour south to get our drive started, we would pay for lunch to watch the game together. They obliged us and we had a lovely game watching Chiefs.
We did a quick walk together after the game to stretch our legs before heading out.
Danelle and I also managed to make a stop for a walk and a look at the Mississippi river.
I wholeheartedly apologize to everybody around me this weekend. Looking back at the photos, the mustache is terrible. It is a mistake that should not be repeated.
