Most Tuesdays in the summer, you can find me at Creve Coeur Lake paddling a 5K. We paddle everything from rental canoes (I did this once) to expensive composite race boats. Tonight, I was blessed to have Danelle and Sonora come out and paddle with me. While they were not going to race the 5K, they were coming out to paddle while I raced.
With boats loaded, we went out to the lake. I fully admit I was a bit of a grouch as I like to get there pretty early and relax before the race. We were pressed for time to get everybody together. The paddling race came and went and I had a fantastic time. Danelle and Sonora were able to go out and enjoy the lake as well. After the race, Sonora wanted to try out my Epic V7 racing kayak. While she was tipsy and slightly uncomfortable, she wasn’t any worse than I was when I started! She didn’t flip either which is a bonus in a 22″ wide boat!
Okay, the boat looked downright good on her. Danelle enjoyed the peace of the lake. She might have been more impressed with the sunset!
I’m glad I was able to share my paddling passion with most of my family tonight. Sorry for being grouchy cause we were not as early as I wanted.
