We’ve started getting involved in the Mississippi River Water Trail. Today, they were hosting a sunset paddle leaving from Piasa harbor. I drove up from St. Louis with a canoe. I brought dinner as a surprise for Danelle. Unfortunately it was too much of a surprise. She was later than me and we didn’t have time to eat the dinner before the paddle.
The organization is very safety conscience or risk averse. Instead of just throwing boats on the water and going, we had to unload lots of borrowed boats and make sure they fit each paddler. Then we had a safety talk before taking off. It isn’t a bad thing, just something I’m not used to.
Finally out on the water.
The group stayed together as we continued upriver on the Mississippi. There wasn’t much current due to the dam being mostly closed. The river is very open towards the sunset making for an amazing sunset!
Its worth getting out for the amazing and fast sunset.
