State 40 – Connecticut

5/29/2021

We passed this sign on a parkway and had to drive past a bit  before finding a parking spot. Except the lot was full and we had to wait a bit to find an open spot. Then we walked back a bit through the wet grass to get to the sign for our photo. With the photo out of the way, we were able to scoot on to our riding location, Derby Trail in Derby, Connecticut.

The trail is located near the confluence of two rivers and should provide some scenic riding near a small town. Again stymied by the cold wet weather, we didn’t enjoy the ride nearly as much as we should have. The wouldn’t stop us from checking out a bridge nearby!

Corvin doesn’t look happy i this photo but we were having a fun time. We had lots of conversation while riding and looking around.

We got the wheels to stay together and pose by the river.

Figured we should be in the shot too. Its still cold out, darn the northeast!

We have several recurring themes during our rides. One of them is Corvin recording me mounting my unicycle. Another is Corvin running after geese. Today was no different.

Here is Corvin standing proud after he sent all of those geese into the water!

This was a great ride in a small town. We even stuck around after riding to get dinner at a local restaurant. Of course to our delight, they had pizza. If you’ve ever been to Connecticut, you may have had a run with clam pizza. I have not had it since about 1999, but I remembered it. This meant that we had to order 2 pizzas, a clam one and a “normal” one. Corvin is a trooper with food and tried it. While it wasn’t his favorite, he still ate it without complaint.

Our fancy clam pizza.
