Sonora’s First Apartment – 5/23/2026

Just a week ago, we saw Corvin graduate and moved his stuff home. Just a week later, I’m back at U-Haul renting another trailer. This time, its to take Sonora to her first college apartment. She was already in Springfield for work, meaning we packed her stuff without her. Then Danelle, Corvin, and I drove to Springfield. It also happens that my sister, Hannah, was there as well. We arrived at lunch time and didn’t waste any time getting Chinese food for lunch.

With lunch consumed, we went to the hard work of unpacking and moving her stuff in. With five of us, it was fast work to get everything inside. Before returning the U-Haul, Sonora and I left and went to a house to pick up a used washer/dryer combo from a college student moving out. The rental was on State street. My buddy Steve lived on State street and I drove by pointing out houses to Sonora. We had a quick fun call to Steve to remember college stories while heading back to the apartment.

One of our favorite places to eat while in Springfield is Lambert’s Cafe. They are known for throwing fresh baked rolls across the dining room. Its a fun environment with different food. Not somewhere I would want to frequent often, but its decent. We had a ton of laughs as a group which is exactly what we wanted!

One other memorable thing was a trip to At Home. It was mostly just to waste time in the air conditioning. There are tons of interesting decorations for every occasion. Corvin must have thought he was still in Wisconsin with this.

It was a successful move and having Hannah there made it better. Hopefully I won’t have to move anybody soon (but you know its coming…).
