Repairs – 10/2/2024

Danelle’s dad always had something going on. He was a focused engineer that would chip away at a project till it was near perfect. Unfortunately, he isn’t with us anymore and left some projects unfinished. He had removed a railing on the side of the house and some of the wood due to rot. Danelle’s parents have lived in this house around 50 years, so its no surprise it was due for some care. Henry had prepped and painted most of the wood and just not come around to re-attaching it yet. Tonight we hoped to fix that. Danelle and Brian are starting by re attaching the front board that is brighter green than the others.

With that board attached, some other supports were added to ensure the deck would be strong for years to come. Next, to make it look good, a second board was placed. This board was attached from the back side so no screws would show from the front. This meant several clamps and coordination as everything was put in place before being screwed in.

We finished the job re-attaching the painted and prepped wood that night under lights. I was mostly there to take photos and occasionally hold things in place. Now to come back and re-attach the railing another day.
