Quad Doors – 3/13/2026

Danelle has always wanted a sun room. This house was our chance to get her exactly what she wanted. The plan is a sun room off the back of the house looking out into our property. The next question was how to separate the sun room from the rest of the house. The only catch is that we wanted huge doors. The width of the opening will support two sliding doors.

Initially when meeting with Pella for selecting our windows and exterior doors, they offered a few solutions. One of the things I didn’t want was a track on the floor. I’m clumsy and I know that I would either kick the track and break it or my foot if I wasn’t wearing shoes. They didn’t have anything for us.

Next we went to a local door and window company that deals in custom things. We made three visits over a few months and every time they talked a good talk, but never returned our calls. It would have been nice if they just said they were not interested in our business. After the third try, I gave up.

Next, I was inspired by the new office that my company built. The entrance is two frame-less glass doors with the company logo on them. I really like that look and thought it would compliment the opening while allowing it to be closed and create its own room. I called multiple companies to attempt to get quotes. It turns out they are either not popular for residential or just very custom. I only received two quotes and they were both over $20,000. Not only is that out of my budget, its crazy! I probably should have contacted the landlord of my building and inquired to who did our glass doors, but I didn’t.

Those prices were never going to work. I would occasionally browse the web looking for something that would work. Sometimes you get an ad you didn’t expect or come up with some phrasing that brings up a result you had not seen before. Then I found it! Glass-Door.us (note the domain is now .shop) They have an amazing selection of glass doors for all sorts of openings. Since this is an interior door, it didn’t have to seal 100% or be exterior rated. We found a double glass door (sadly with a frame) that had a cool pattern. More importantly, it was affordable at just over $5,000.

Pre house-building Hogan would choke at that price, but that is the cost of fancy doors now! The purchase process took a bit to go through the builder/lender/vendor, but it eventually worked out. The doors are approximately 500 pounds total, but they had no issue hanging them up. So without further adieu, here they are!

It’ll be easier to see when backlit and a dry walled background. Each of the two doors has the tree pattern mirrored. We’re big fans of the look and are excited for our friends and family to see them in person! I think it was worth the journey to get here!
