Proper Internet And Other Updates – 9/10/2026

Back when I was still in creepy shed, I was too far from the road to get proper Internet. I relied on a 4G wireless router and a paid month to month sim card with 20Gb of data per month. I needed to be extra careful when I was working out there not to run out of data. Additionally this was slow to transfer data.

I had enough of creepy shed and moved my office to the basement of the new house. It isn’t as hot in the summer in the basement and it has unlimited power (as long as I pay the bill).  We’re getting closer to finishing the house, so its reasonable to purchase regular high speed Internet.

It took several phone calls to find a vendor that would provide service. The one I wanted did not offer it and the other wasn’t sure. I had to explain to them that I used their website to see which of my neighbors had service and where they were relative to my. In the end it was ordered, but they had to come out and perform some infrastructure to get the extra few hundred feet to my house.

Once this was done, it took about 10 more days before the actual installer came out to the house. I insisted they use my conduit to keep the clean install going. The installer was patient with me and I appreciate that. I helped him pull the cable through the conduit that was probably a little too small for this.

While all of this was going on, Danelle was working hard on prepping the bathrooms for tile. Laying out concrete board to have the least waste.

Speaking of bathrooms, the blocked pipe was fully chipped and cut out. Our plumber made quick work replacing it.

And our kitchen cabinets were delivered today. One box was damaged. This was noted by the driver. I have a photo of the driver holding the piece before moving it into th house. This became important about a month later getting the warranty piece. The delivery company said it wasn’t damaged when they gave it to us. But I found the photo below and it was properly taken care of…
