Are there water issues with our new basement? Every time it rains, I check it hoping that I don’t see water. Unfortunately, today I found water in the basement.
It was easy to chase down the source of this water. It turns out it came from where the water main comes into the house. A call to the plumber and they promised to come out and put in more permanent seal. It doesn’t help that the soil around the house isn’t graded, meaning water is coming towards this. We’re confident it’ll be resolved in a few days.
Wait, did we just get same day service, I can’t complain. He was coming anyway to add a missing water spigot to the front of the house. Unfortunately, he forgot the line was pressurized and he got wet when patching the line in.
Its also worth mentioning that the electric is ready for the power company to come out and connect us up. Going backwards from the house, two 200 amp boxes.
The holes where they come into the house.
Now to talk about the madness. Ameren Illinois our utility provider has a rule that you can’t put an electric meter more than 10 feet from the nearest wall where the power comes from. This means the front of our house. I want the power to come in the back so the panels are not in a finished area of the house. Additionally, I want solar and batteries and not in the finished space. This means that I have a meter near the front of my house and expensive underground trenching to get the power from the front to the back where I want it. In the photo below, the meter with pipes going down and to the right to connect with the photo above.
Now I just have to wait for the power company to come in and put in a meter and I’ll have power in 1 outlet.
