It was an eventful month for sure. Starting off with the bad, I had an accident with Danelle’s new car. We found a free charger at a bar and put it on the charger. When it was time to get it off the charger so somebody else could use it, I went out to move it. It was backed in and I was able to come down a set of steps and hop right in. There across the aisle from me was an open spot, perfect. I turned the wheel and started driving when I heard a crunch. It turns out there was a concrete pole that was lower than the bottom of the window I didn’t see and brushed against. We still had temp tags on the car. I was very frustrated and didn’t look forward to getting it fixed. Most of the damage was a black plastic offset getting ripped off. All told, it was about a $2,000 mistake to get fixed.
I went on a 12 mile walk on the Katy trail that ended in light rain and cold.
Andrew came over to my house to help fix my Epic V7 kayak. He showed me how to plastic weld with a soldering iron. I had to take the rudder all the way off and learned the crack was worse than I expected. The hole on the left side is the bolt that holds the rudder in. It has a large washer on it that holds down the rudder that goes in the post on the right side. The crack was in front of the left post and also between the two posts. When attempting to put it back together, the receiving post on the inside of the boat came out. There will be an update in a few months when I have time to get to Andrew’s place where he has the epoxy tools to properly repair it. For now, its out of commission.
Lastly, I did something I’ve never done before in my life. But first, I should back up a bit. Danelle doesn’t wear her original wedding ring. As a scientist, the diamond gets caught on things and dirt can get in the mount. Looking back, they are terribly impractical for anybody that needs to use their hands. She has been wearing a latex ring for a while now. I still have and regularly wear my original gold ring. Recently, I had it off and she asked to try it on. My ring fit her ring finger and she had a large smile on her face. I asked if she wanted to switch rings and wear mine and I would wear her latex one. Her smile told me everything I needed to know. I’ve had the latex ring for a few months now. Today I decided to do something about it.
I have the before and after of my ring finger getting my first tattoo. I like the pattern and its something I will always hold dear. I can say it was crazy painful and I can’t imagine getting another one!
