Foundation Pour Follow Up – 3/23/2024

We’re visiting our site to view the foundation after the forms have been removed. The fill has not been added, so I’ll be able to walk around the outside of the foundation for a few more days. Here is an overview of it. Note the large patch of grass. They didn’t need to dig this out as the garage will go here. So fill will be added, but this will save us money and time.

Interesting seeing how a bag of concrete was poured before the foundation and a board placed to make sure the pour would work correctly.

I had mentioned previously, all of the metal tabs sticking out are used to space the forms evenly apart. Then rebar is placed on top of each of them. This creates a uniform distribution for the forms and rebar keeping the foundation strong. My parents house was built in the 1980s and still has them visible in the basement. I always wondered what they were for!

Brilliant or lazy, I can’t decide. The construction workers used tools to create shelves in the dirt to hold their cans. Okay, I did decide, I’m going with lazy as they just left their trash on site.

And now for the video.
