We have company at Danforth today. Steve, Jackie, and Nathan came up to help. Nathan is in Scouts and wants to go to Philmont. This was one of my favorite and memorable high adventure scout trips. I wanted to make sure he is able to go and not cause stress on the family. I offered Nathan a scholarship to come out and work at my house. In exchange I would give his parents a check to help offset the cost of this important trip. Today, we would be moving dirt around the property to help make it smoother to mow.
Don’t worry, I didn’t work him very hard. If anything, it was just an excuse to hang out with our friends while helping out. Now, if you know Steve, you know that we’ve been friends since college. Steve has lived us with before and we’re quite fond of him and his family. Steve doesn’t drive. Today he did!
I had Steve drive the mower to move the dirt around on the property. I figured it was unlikely he would hurt anybody and we were nearby to assist if he needed anything! It wasn’t long before Steve had a different load than the dirt that I wanted moved.
We honestly didn’t get all that much work done. But the memories we created were amazing and worth every moment of being together!
