We have been thinking about getting a riding mower for our new property. It’ll make it easier and faster to mow. Its also much larger than any lawn we’ve had before. While we are a ways from moving still, I thought it would be nice to have it to start maintaining the property now. As an added bonus, I received a nice financial gift from my employer for celebrating my 10 year anniversary. We used this gift to significantly cut down the cost of the mower.
We actually purchased the mower about a week and a half ago, but it had a broken part. The store had a replacement ordered and said they would deliver it for free. Today the mower was delivered during the work day. I’ll have to admit that I was very excited for work to be over so I could use my new tool toy.
Right after work, I fired it up and immediately spent about 10 minutes mowing my back yard. I spent more time moving stuff than actually mowing, but it was fun. It was then that I looked at the gas tank and realized it was almost empty. I couldn’t resist and started driving it to the nearby neighborhood gas station on the streets. I made it up all of the hills and was going down when I ran out of gas. Lucky I was on a downhill and was able to pull it out of gear and coast down.
From here, it was full push the rest of the way. Look in the top right of the photo and you can see the green of the gas station. With a full tank, I drove it to Ryan’s house and proceeded to mow his front lawn. Eventually I was out of grass to mow, and had to go home. It was an event filled hour or so and I had just enough mowing to be extra happy about my purchase. I think I’ll have more interesting adventures with this toy in the future!
