Many ups, and a few downs – 1/9/2026

The house has some decorative overhangs to provide character. All homeowners want something pleasing to their eye. When ours were assembled and installed, they missed a tiny step. The bottom of this overhang needs to be flat to install the finish on it. On ours, they left chunks of wood sticking down. Below is an enhanced photo showing our carpenter up on the lift. The best tool for the job was an electric chain saw.

Almost a year ago, I wrote about our vigas. Today I finally got to see the first set of them attached to the house. It really makes the look in my opinion. I’ll share more when the rest of them are installed.

Now for the less happy news. The large window in the sun room has a defect on the outside. The trim is sagging. It doesn’t look like much, but I worry it’ll get worse if its only been installed for a year. I’m working to get the builder to contact Pella and correct it. I understand Pella windows are warrantied for life, but it sure would be nice to correct it before the EIFS is applied.

The gap in the middle looking from the inside.
Looking from the inside out, the outside trim is lower than the inside trim.

It will be nice to continue having little updates and seeing how things change. It seems like we have progress!
