Danelle went to pick up Corvin from college. It was the end of his sophomore year and we were anxious to have him home! She started driving Thursday night and figured she would see how far she could get. Unfortunately for her, she got tired and would not make it the whole way. Worse yet, she used Google Maps to find a side road that would be off the beaten path to get some sleep.
This “road” was actually a dirt trail to a creek. She called me around 3am saying that she was stuck. I gave her the best tired advice I could being mostly sleep on it. Then call EMS in the morning and see what they recommend. Based on her GPS, she was far enough off the road it would be an expensive recovery as I didn’t expect a tow truck to go that far off the road.
Enough mud that no traction would be had.
The view from the next morning looking at her predicament. Lucky for her, the RAV4 has AWD and with some gentle driving, it was able to extricate herself. She made it on time to pick up Corvin and get home before Friday evening. Still it made for an interesting story we hope not to repeat!
