Snow, Progress, and Setbacks – 1/25/2026

It snowed all weekend dropping about 8 inches of snow in the area. I had my framing inspection. I shoveled my way to creepy shed to make sure I could be a good employee and get my work done.

I previewed the house before the inspection. I noticed a few more air vents were hung.

I also noticed that the vanities that I thought were out of the way had holes for air vents in the corners. They may yet have to be moved.

I worked in the shed until it was time for the framing inspection. The builder wasn’t present for the inspection. With the inspector’s prompt arrival, we went to work. We didn’t get very far in the house before he commented that all of the floors are sagging. Typical of an inspector, he found many things he didn’t like, but several of them seemed more serious. He was specifically concerned about the length of time the material sat exposed to the elements and questioned if they are still safe.

The builder and I received the inspector’s report a few hours later. It was a stop work order with multiple points to specifically address. Worst news yet is that he wants a re-inspection with a licensed structural engineer to evaluate the project.  We’ve chatted with the builder and are waiting for him to arrange the meeting to re-inspect together.

Now our project is on hold yet again. Its been a few days with nothing scheduled. Phone calls will go out next week until we get some direction to get us back on track. Stay tuned!
