Pedal [Crash] and Paddle – 5/27/2025

I try to stay active. One of the things I enjoy doing is unicycling. If you’ve followed this site for any time, you know this about me. Today, I was unicycling around Creve Coeur Lake before a paddle 5k. I brought my Nimbus Nightfox along as I don’t spend enough time on my 36″ wheel.

I was nearly around the lake, riding what I considered decent when I lost focus. I may have hit a bump at the same time, but I was around other people and thinking about passing and how much my legs burned from the effort. Suddenly, I crashed around 10 mph. Mostly my bride was hurt, but I did get both palms injured. I had some skin hanging from one of my hands. I walked the unicycle back to the car. There my paddling friends showed up. Dotty is a nurse and had a first aid kit with her. My hands were still in shock/stinging. She took good care of me putting on some good band-aids.

As you can see from the photo above, I decided to paddle anyway. Hoping the river water didn’t get me too infected. Plus I don’t take my Landick 2 out very much, so I wanted some seat time.

I managed to get myself and the boat around the lake without flipping in 36:36. I have lots to learn and get used to. Just the same, I came out and took come chances and paid with some skin on the path. I’ll be back to Pedal [Not Crash] and Paddle again!
