We had two projects in mind when we came out to the house. We often start by walking through the house hoping something was done since our last visit. While no construction was done, there were baby birds inside the house. Danelle managed to catch two of them. Sonora wanted a photo of them each holding birds.
With the birds held and then placed back where they were found, we tackled the easiest project first. A mailbox was placed. As I write this nearly 3 months later, we have yet to receive a single piece of mail. I mailed us a postcard, but it has yet to arrive. Eventually we need to get back to the post office to inquire about our mail.
The last project of this trip was to put in posts and string wire for the electric fence. We’ve never done this before. We ordered the parts and shopped at the local farm store for the parts we missed. Now it was time. It wasn’t as hard as I expected. The corners hammered in with patience. Then we strung the rope through each attachment. Before long we had it all together.
There isn’t much to see, but with the electric fence operating, we can keep the deer out of the open area. Once the house is further along, we’ll have a water line run back to this area. I don’t want to plant any trees until I know that we can water them effectively. Mature trees are expensive and we want them making fruit!
