Madison’s Graduation

Corvin’s girlfriend Madison invited us up to LaCrosse to see her graduation. They are pretty serious in their relationship and we didn’t want to miss it. Danelle booked us a room using our fancy Expedia.com points. We took a leisurely drive up to Wisconsin arriving in the 10pm hour. When we checked in, we were in for a big surprise. We had been to this hotel before, but with our points, we received VIP treatment. Our room was GIANT!

We have never stayed anywhere with a hot tub inside the room! Then tons of space to hang out. Behind the photo was a kitchenette. Barely unpacked and with the thrill of a fancy hotel room we never expected, we went across town to the party. I should mention its 6F outside. Wisconsin was bitter cold this weekend. There we spent time with Madison’s family and met some members we had not previously.

We started the next day with a fancy breakfast and then walked over to the auditorium where graduation was. I’ll spare you the horrible cell phone photos that didn’t do justice. We did have lovely seats.

We got some fancy photos of Madison after graduation.

They had a nice celebration at a local establishment. As the party wound down, we were looking for a place to stay and ended up bringing people back to our hotel room to play games. Of course my two favorite young people were having fun!

We played games till about 10pm and then the party broke up. On the long drive back home the next day, Danelle and I took our time. We managed to make a random turn that took us to a bridge that was out. Lucky for us, we put the car on a ferry and crossed the Mississippi anyway.

We had one more trick up our sleeves for this trip. Coming home, we would be coming by Iowa City. Aylo is going to Iowa University there and we gave her a call. While it was during finals, we were able to meet and hang out for a little more than an hour. We warmed her up with a cup of coffee and silly conversation.

All in, it was a lovely weekend seeing loved ones that are afar. We for sure were glad to get back to Missouri where the snow was nearly gone and it was about 20F warmer!
