We were on the road by 6 am, which was a feat with the people involved. Even getting our two kids to wake up on time was simple compared with my brothers, Herman and Henry. Much to my surprise, everybody got up with minimal fuss and we were on the road. 3/4 of my passengers returned to their slumber once they were belted into place. I drove on with small talk to Danelle.
As we got close to Fort Campbell, Kentucky we got calls wondering where we were and if we would make it on time. Of course we didn’t dress up for the drive as it was quite early. So we stopped at one of my favorite roadside stops, Flying J Travel Pizza Plaza. In the parking lot, a few of us changed. Others went inside to the bathroom to change. Once changed, we met Hayden and family just outside the fort. There, we did some car switching to have a military person in each vehicle. That makes it easier to get inside.
We drove all across the base until we got to the lodge where the anniversary party was being held. There, the families started to mingle and have a good time.
We had a nice lunch and Hayden and Jennifer played a movie of their wedding anniversary ceremony in Hawaii. They also wore their wedding outfits for the part. Here are photos of the men and ladies.
And of course, the two most important people, Hayden and Jennifer!
After the party wrapped up, we went back to their house for more festivities deep into the night. This is the perfect way to celebrate a wedding!
