Sonora was in for the weekend and she wanted to get caught up in person on the house progress. She was impressed that the house is mostly locked with a garage door.
Why do I say mostly locked? One lock is installed and other doors blocked in various methods. So one door to unlock, then open the garage and go. The locks are at the house in the garage in a lock box, but they need to be installed. We’re still waiting for the roof to stop leaking. Some of it is because its coming off the roof and hitting the back wall. There are currently no gutters.
Still, that much water in the basement is no good. The area in the basement that is wet is not near the back of the house, so something else is leaking. Its nice to almost have a roof. Anyway, we spent time walking around with Sonora and trying to figure out the correct size for bathroom vanities. We were supposed to be close to putting in plumbing and we needed where the drains would go.
We also met the builder and the vendor selected to put the exterior EIFS on the house. Follow the link if you want more details, but its basically a different version of stucco. It’ll have a finish to provide the Southwest/Mediterranean look and feel. Below is me holding a sample of it up against the garage.
We think the finish will look great and it was interesting listening to the builder and vendor talk about elevations and how things will look and finish.
Our last interesting topic for this visit is white mold. We found a bunch of it on the back wall and floor of the house. We think its due to the excessive water coming in during rains. We showed this to the builder who promised to work on it before just replacing it. And to save you the drama and wondering, two heavy treatments of bleach water took care of it. Now almost 2 months later its still clear. Ohh, but the mold photos you were looking for.
