We sent this photo to the builder and asked that they fix the Tyvek (second time this has happened). We don’t have much traction from them that they are going to fix it. We worry about the wood getting wet repeatedly during weather events.
Its a long story, but we have a plumber and they started the rough in. Mostly just a few holes drilled to indicate where they want the pipes to go. He didn’t have time to do the full job, but this should be enough information for the HVAC team to get started and not get in each other’s way. We’re hoping this approach can get the house done faster. At the end of May 2026, it’ll be 3 full years and we’ll owe on a 4th year on builder’s risk insurance. It was very expensive for year 3 and I hate to think how expensive a fourth year would be.
The most disappointing thing about the rough in is the hole below. We thought this little nook would make a fantastic bookshelf between the kitchen and the pantry. I think the plumber considered it dead space and claimed it. It wasn’t critical to our design, but a little sad to know this isn’t to be anymore.
Any ways, I never thought I would be this excited to see holes in my house. It seems like its coming together!
