State 1 – Oklahoma

June 1, 2019

I mentioned in a previous post, Corvin and I are attempting to unicycle all lower 48 states for at least 1 hour before he graduates high school. We live in St. Louis, but Oklahoma is our first state. You might be asking? We kicked off a 2 week family vacation to ride 8 states. Oklahoma was on our way, so we started here. How fitting that the state sign had two of the letter “O” that we could replace with unicycle wheels!

Our ride was on the semi-flooded River Parks East trail. Its located on the east side of the Arkansas river near downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. We took this photo on the path, its only the start of the flooding we saw.

The Arkansas river was really moving. We heard lots of noise from this low head dam.

It seems like everybody wants to unicycle these days. I didn’t have the heart to tell this big guy that it only counts if he uses one unicycle.

Here at the end of our ride, I wanted to make my own bicycle art.

Here is a photo of Corvin’s journal entry for this ride.

Our riding statistics from Strava.

And finally, our map of completed state(s).

I’ll have to work on the video we recorded of this ride, but this is our first official documentation of our ride progress. Lots of additional unicycle riding to go!
