Gateway Geyser – 8/3/2013

I’ve been working in downtown St. Louis for several months now. Occasionally, I notice an incredible jet of water spraying up in the air across the river. It appeared to be something industrial coming from the grain elevator nearby. I finally decided to break out trusty Google Maps and find out what was going on. To my surprise, I found out that it was a park hosting the Gateway Geyser. The map below shows downtown St. Louis with the arch and geyser.

Now that I discovered this treasure, I just needed to visit it in person. It goes off three times a day, Noon, 3pm, 6pm for most of the year. It just happened that my family was in town and I drug them out to see it.

Of course, when my brothers are there, we play…

At the other end of the park is a 40 foot high viewing platform looking over the whole area including downtown St. Louis. We walked up and had a fantastic time enjoying the sights!

If you live in the St. Louis area, its a treat to visit!
