New Years – 1/1/2019

We celebrated New Years at Kelly and Jeff’s house this year. Jake looks stumped.

Somehow I convinced Kelly that the mess wouldn’t be too bad for this party toy…

Sonora got Maggie to spend the night, so when we went home, we took Maggie with us. Then Maggie and Sonora went ice skating.

Seems like a decent start to a new year!

Dev Up Conference 10/9/2018

My employer was kind enough to sponsor part of the DevUp conference this year. Additionally, they sent the whole development staff for professional development.

It didn’t take long for us to get seats and get comfortable for the opening Keynote about the future of technology.

Maggie on my right.

Jeff on my left.

They went all out on the opening this year. With a talk about the future, it just made sense to have a DeLorean there!

Of course, it wasn’t all learning, we did stop to have some fun!

Chad showing that cutout what real muscles look like!

A couple of beers!

This was a HUGE Foosball table, we had at least 12 people playing and still had to move to different positions to cover them all!

Chocolate covered bacon, does it get any better?

I did pretty good at this blackjack table. It may have had something to do with the way the dealer dealt his face down card… You would have looked too if it meant winning 🙂

Overall it was a pretty good conference. I had lots more photos including one of a sleeping co-worker. But some people are over sensitive so some things will just have to be remembered!

Ohh, one last note, if you’re reading my blog and you run a conference center (yeah, like anybody is reading this crap), please put your screens up higher. If you’re sitting in the back, important pieces of a visual just become the back of people’s heads!

Dying Maggie’s Hair – 6/1/2018

Maggie has never had her hair dyed before. So she came over to do it with Sonora. Here are a few photos of the mess!

Of course I didn’t capture the finished product. Maggie was swimming every day that summer training for races, so the dye didn’t last very long in her hair. But it was fun hearing the girls having fun!

French Lick New Years – 12/31/2017

Before you get too excited, French Lick is a town in Indiana. We decided to go there for new years for a change. This is the 18th new years we’ve celebrated with the Niemeyers. The plan was to head out Saturday morning. Mason had a birthday party to go to, so we picked up Kelly and Maggie and the 6 of us went out.

After a pleasant drive, we got there and checked in. We had two nights booked, but we didn’t want to waste any time swimming at the indoor water park!

We spent the whole of the first day swimming and the evening playing games in the room together. Sunday morning early, Danelle woke up feeling very sick. She spent all morning and into the evening dealing with sickness that came on suddenly. It wasn’t until the evening that we saw the sign on the left door going into the water park that explained her illness.

Being out of the water park was what made her feel better. It was strange that she was the only one in our group that was affected by this.

During the second day,we took a mini tour of French lick, checking out the West Baden resort. Even having been there before, its still amazing to see the building!

After a few rounds of lazer tag and some pizza, we went back to the hotel for the grand new year’s party. They had supplies and a surprise.

Probably the best thing about this new year’s celebration was that we crossed to the Eastern Time Zone. This meant that us old people could celebrate at our 11pm and get to bed before midnight!

And if there was any doubt that the kids had a good time, here is part of the drive home!
