Marci’s Wedding – 7/28/2012

My cousin Marci got married this weekend. I don’t know what we were thinking, but we came into town with only our cell phones, no camera. So all of the photos are of my immediate family, and none of Marci. The ceremony and reception were nice. We had an added incentive for going to this wedding. First, Holly and David were going to be there.

Second is that my parents were keeping the kids for the week. The kids were excited about this and Danelle and I were looking forward to peace and quite for a week!

I also got a great blackmail photo of Hiatt!

Kansas City Visit for Holly – 3.10.12

We decided to make another trip to Kansas City to see Holly. It was the last time we were going to see her pregnant before she gave birth. She was happy and just about as normal as a person can be. We could tell that she was very happy!

The kids always like visiting because they love my parents dog, Peaches. Okay, so I might like playing with the dog as well, but Sonora took the spotlight this time playing in the back yard. We had to warn Sonora to be gentle, but Peaches didn’t seem to mind one bit!

If there is one thing I have going for myself in life, its great luck. While we were in town, the Big 12 championship for basketball was going on. KU lost in the semi-final round and many people there were quite disappointed. KU and MU were most likely to play in the final as they both had great ball teams this year. Add this to the fact that MU is changing conferences, this was supposed to be the final showdown between the two teams. With the KU loss, many ticket holders didn’t care about the final game and gave their tickets away. I was lucky enough to be a beneficiary of said unwanted seats. To my benefit, they were box seats in the Sprint Center! I had some of the best seats in the house with food and beer! What more could a sports fan want?

A special thanks to Stan for the tickets!

Christmas in KC – 12.22.2011

If there is one things that the kids love, its sleeping on cots! Christmas can be a busy time at my parents house, so we just make room wherever we fit.

The real magic of this gathering is just being around family. There is comfort in long talks into the night about the state of the family and the world surrounding us. Corvin wants to be just like dad, so he tries to juggle oranges like his dad used to do in the kitchen. Only the story goes that I used eggs and broke a few…

In an effort to bring extra joy to the season, I decided to make a HUGE quantity of whiskey balls! I used extra strong wiskey which sort of ruined it…

While we were in town, I helped Hiatt and Herman work on their vehicles. In Haake fashion, only one of the two auto projects worked. But the one that did work only did so by the guidance of a collision shop full of tools and knowledge (thanks Mike)!
