Christmas in KC – 12/22/2018

We made it to KC to see my family. Its always a madhouse as there are numerous things going on, but that keeps it all very interesting. Starting off with the least Christmas thing of all, Henry’s car.

Its looking good with the motor back in the engine bay. I’m not sure how he will see around the supercharger, but that is a problem for another day. Maybe it’ll get running in 2019!

Here is dad at Uncle Jerry’s annual holiday party. Like a fool, I never get enough photos, so this is all I have from that party. Part of it is that its full of catching up with family, I’m often too busy to take out my phone.

Back at my parents, they got Hannah a intro violin. She seemed excited to play it. Sonora showed her what its capable of, but I’m not expecting to see her playing in a band any time soon.

Mom is hanging out in the middle enjoying all of the happiness around us!

Here I am hanging out with Dad. I’m not sure if my double neck or my hair is worse… Maybe I should fix them both!

You often hear about mom’s secret recipe. Something about cooking with love, but your food never tastes the same. Turns out, i may have found that secret. See what seems out of place for yourself…

There is a Chiefs game today, so Dad and I dressed up in our jerseys to show our support. Mom also dressed up, but not for the Chiefs. We all have a good time with this!

Christmas in Kansas City – 12/22/2017

We went to Kansas City for Christmas. We decided to take our time  coming into town. We left St. Louis on Friday morning and took a leisurely drive out US Highway 50 stopping in Jefferson City. First stop was the river.

With almost no complaints, Corvin and Sonora put their coats on and walked down to the river to take it all in. And maybe to throw rocks as well 🙂

After the river, we met Sean and Jennifer for lunch. We don’t get to Jeff City to see them enough, so it was great to stop by and catch up with them!

Eventually, we found our way to Kansas City where the fun began!

If anybody wasn’t sure where I get all of my fun from, the two photos above of my parents should give you some idea!

Peaches on the left and Heidi on the right.

As an extra bonus, Holly and Lindsay were able to come in town for a while! We missed David and Jim, but made the most of the time we had with the girls!

We even made it in time for the annual Christmas party on my dad’s side.

Back at my parents, the presents flowed and the kids glowed.

Henry continued some demolition on his old car engine.

Ohh look, its only 365 days till Christmas!

And most important of all, we have to sing our traditional song before we can open presents!

Solar Eclipse at Waterfall – 8/21/2017

We took the kids out of school and invited some SLU students to come out to Waterfall to enjoy the event with us. It was away from civilization and promised to have a decent view. Our property was in the path of the totality, making it a perfect viewing spot! We decided to spend the night before at the property and had a few others join us.

With the morning of the eclipse at hand, more people started showing up. All told, we had around 20 people come out to see it, including my parents

We put up a slack line in the only place we had available and made the most of it. I even got my mom up on it.

The eclipse was going to start after lunch, so we all hung around in the shade eating way too much lunch and snacks!

Here is what the eclipse festivities looked like getting ready.

And a few leading up to the eclipse, with a filter on the camera of course…

My favorite photos came during the totality. For about 60 seconds, you could uncover your eyes and get a glimpse directly at the sun. The most important thing was not to wait too long before looking away, cause it ended quick!

And finally if you’re still reading, stop and watch a video of the madness. Its stop motion for the hour leading up to the eclipse. Unfortunately the battery died before it started.

Picking up the Kids In KC – 5/29/2015

After an amazing but short week without the kids after dropping them off for the South Dakota Kayak Challenge, we were missing them! So we drove back to KC to pick them up. As always, there is something going on at my parent’s house.

Herman, Cole, Jen, and Henry were back working on Herman’s mustang again. They got it running and put it all together. I ended going out with them later that night to test drive it all over the city and didn’t get back till 2 am.

While the madness outside was going on, Hanna and Kalie were making some sort of cake pop dessert that looked like poop!

Sonora got to ride in the Herman’s mustang!

And my parents were wore out from us generally being so crazy!

I’m quite happy to have times like this with my family and to get my kiddos back!

Lunch Ride – 4/19/2015

I got a co-worker, Dan, into uni-cycling. We occasionally ride together over lunch. We get funny looks when both of us roll by. Here are the photos of us having fun and “lunch”.
