Many people look at TV shows like The Jetsons in awe at what the future will be like. Go to a large airport and you’ll see a people mover. Every day, the automated future gets closer. More restrooms now offer automatic flushing, automatic sinks, and automatic towls or air driers. The benefits to hygene are good, but does it potentially harm our future?
Consider the EBV-200-A automatic flushing unit. The unit requires 4 C batteries to operate. The batteries are supposed to last for 2 years at 4,000 flushes a year. There is a similar unit where I work. When the occasion arrises, I find that it flushes an average of three times per use, wasting a large quantity of water and providing an un-nerving experience for the user.
